In the Define phase, one of the key UX goals that emerged was the need to support habit formation through intentional interaction design. Drawing on insights from user research, we aligned our product strategy around retention-focused mechanisms that would embed the app into users’ routines. To operationalize this, we mapped user journeys against Nir Eyal’s Hook Model, applying principles of triggers, actions, rewards, and investment.

This approach enabled us to develop a function hierarchy that prioritized features with the highest potential for reinforcing engagement loops. By connecting behavioral psychology to interaction design, we ensured that core experiences — such as feedback, achievement systems, and onboarding flows — were optimized to drive sustained usage and intrinsic motivation.
