Microjourney design played a pivotal role in refining the user experience, especially in balancing digital guidance with physical immersion. We focused on optimizing the game start flow — a critical entry point for engagement — by minimizing app interaction and maximizing the user's presence in active, screenless gameplay.

The illustration above outlines our iterative process in designing this hybrid interaction. Our objective was to shift key user touchpoints into the action phase of the experience, minimizing cognitive load and eliminating friction. Through cross-disciplinary workshops, we aligned UX flow, app functionality, audio cues, and firmware behavior to create a smooth and self-guided transition from app to play. This resulted in a continuous, screenless experience that emphasized real-world interaction and user autonomy — a core UX goal for the Playfinity platform.
